Radioactive Man

Radioactive Man

I’m Iron Man! Oh wait, no, that was Tony Stark. I’m Radioactive Man! Yesterday, my cancer doc implanted a gamma radiation pellet in my liver to kill that pesky tumor that has taken up residence. Soon after the surgery I had to get on Facebook and post about it of course. This is what I said:

So far, no manifestations of super powers. I do have restrictions because I am now actually emitting low levels of radiation. I have to stay at least six feet away from children because they are still growing and the radiation could affect their growth. I also have to stay six feet away from any baby mamas that halve big ole milk filled boobies, because the radiation can affect the breast feeding food for the babies.

So, Part One of the Transplant Game is now complete. Part Two is now on the agenda. We’ll be leaving Virginia next Friday (29 Oct 21) to head to Dallas where my sister lives and the transplant center is located. We are hoping the transplant will happen before the end of the year. What a Christmas present that would be! On the way, we’ll be Cracker Docking overnight in a city where one of my favorite bloggers live. Maybe, I’ll get to meet him IRL. I don’t know, I haven’t asked him yet.

OK, I’ll keep all 7 of you updated! For now, let’s end this in the style that blogger friend of mine likes to end his posts…

  1. I don’t know where to begin! I guess with congratulations on accomplishing step one! YAY! What is the transplant contingent upon? A specific time since the implanted pellet? If the next tests show any improvement?
Now as to the video. Wow. I love Lou Diamond Phllips, but that was just weird. Is it from anything (movie)?
Hope all good things for you for the coming weeks/months and for your sister as well.

    1. As long as the tumor doesn’t spread outside my liver, which it shouldn’t now that the pellet is in there, we are just going to be working on all the testing that the transplant center will want to do for my sister and me and of course taking care of insurance issues which will probably be the biggest obstacle.

That was actually the first time I saw the video to that song. It was weird! I don’t know if that is from a movie or not.

Thanks for the well wishes! Hope you are doing well.

  2. While that sounds a little terrifying, I know it puts you one step closer to the end game. I’d feel better if you at least get to glow in the dark…
    😉

  3. Even if you don’t get superpowers that is kind of cool. And actually being able to tell strangers, “Please don’t come near me, I’m radioactive” is kind of a superpower. Even if it doesn’t mean you have to stay away from everyone most strangers don’t have to know that.
And it could be worse. There’s the story of David Hahn, AKA “The Radioactive Boy Scout” who turned his parents’ backyard shed into a toxic site.
    Anyway here’s hoping it works!

    1. I never knew that about the Radioactive Boy Scout. Interesting read. If you haven’t figured it out yet, the blogger I am talking about is you. Check your e-mail. That is if you want to dine with a guy who might glow in the dark. I forgot to check last night.

  4. Oh, Ari, I am SO happy you have completed this step; it means you are one step closer to getting rid of this tumour bullshit. I hope you have a wonderful trip and that things go well in Dallas. I can’t think of a better Christmas gift!! Hopefully, you get to meet your blogging pal, as well! Drive safe, my friend, and keep being awesome! Sending you lots of love.
